I agree. Even though I am with a "mega-carrier", our dedicated account is small and only 15 of us. I do my communicating through e-mail. A couple of weeks ago, I had strep throat, laryngitis, tonsillitis, and scarlet fever all at once. I actually could not drive which really hurt my pride. But we were short handed and I tried to go as long as I could. But I used email instead of phone calls to have everything documented.

Abe's nighttime dispatcher didn't know he was being recorded and so that is the reason why he said what he said. I guarantee you Abe probably sent a quallcomm message and dispatch told him to "call dispatch". That is when Abe said, "I am recording this". Abe is a smart guy and he knew what dispatch was gonna say.

When I was OTR, I could count on 1 hand how many times I called in a year...

I learned when the company called on the phone, it was to avoid things in writing and to hang me out.

    rockyroad74 and KE5WDP Thank this.

Hey is anyone in contact with Abe ?
After watching the video again slowly and doing a little trip planning of my own, i am a little more in agreement with "CondoCruiser".
Abe seems like a nice guy, and the Dispatcher did talk down to him and i /we aren't in Abe's shoes -not to mention calling the cops to wake him up is just low down and enough of a reason to find someone else to drive for --BBBUUUTT
After my first reaction of "Just another trucking company messing with a driver" i took another look at the situation.
I am not sure why Abe didn't just take a 2 hour nap and continue on (Was the delivery/ pickup window that tight?)
The Google map route is showing only 5 1/2 hrs -348 miles (yeh i know -but was that in the middle of the night or daylight ?)
When you think about it, Abe did have 20hrs to be rested (and i fully understand where Abe is coming from).
There is some missing info in this story which would be nice to know, so i really cant judge Abe nor were any of us in his shoes.
I am just curious about a couple of things.
Here is some info in case you didnt actually take a look at things closely.
    Google map: http://goo.gl/maps/JFOAH
Truck stops or parking: http://www.findfuelstops.com/?results=Show Results&resultsFile=fuelopt_XTBxnN&queryID=1332213#ResTop
FYI: i do feel for Abe, cause i did go through almost the exact situation coming from the Detroit one time -
But i was on paper, with no electronics telling on me.
I dont know, if you look at the map and stops possible - it makes you think a little.

    RedForeman and truckon Thank this.

Sorry, I do not mean to ignore this thread, it is a GREAT thread!

I posted something and then edited it out. My comment is directed purely at the space it occupies.
