Hey Patty j can you get more info ?
I am just curious to see what if anything could have been done different if it were me -- I am not judging Abe, I have been in similar situations when driving but it was my fault a couple of times.
What was the whole trip -we know it was from livonia MI to Oak creek Wisconsin --it sounded like there was another leg to it we dont know about.
What time did he pickup the load -and when was it to be delivered in Oak creek ?
If you wouldn't mind, if you contact him again ask Abe why he didnt just stop and nap without calling dispatch - were they tracking and pushing hm --or was e-logs doing this ?
I wondered if he could have just stopped and been late.( yeh i know he would have been punished for that) -but the load would have been there in Oak creek eventually.
By the way i bet K&B comes up with rules about recording anything.

well ill I think this arguement can be thrown out the window especially now when companies coming out with dash cam units that not only record in cab but voice too? So technically I would agree that it would be illegal, but now companies are not only invading our privacy, but what we say and do.

 

They'd be doing it with your knowledge, if you don't consent to it you wont be hired. They may have issues with drivers that are currently on board with the company. So a driver would need to decide if that intrusion is worth finding a new job over.

You can bet your CDL, they record ALL calls "for quality assurance".

 

Pushy dispatchers are no doubt a problem in this business but this driver seems like the type who needs his hand held and be babysat. It was 160 miles he had left not 500 and he was essentially off duty for 20 hours straight before this. He could of taken an hour power nap and got er dun instead of all that drama with the dispatchers.

That is what he was planning on doing but the dispatcher wouldn't have that.He drove 2 hrs and almost fell asleep while driving so he stopped and called dispatch.He wanted to take an hr nap but dispatch wanted him to hurry up and get to Oakcreek,160 miles seems like a thousand miles when you're real tired.
