So how does one become a driver at a bottom feeder company?

WOW... I thought I was the only one going through this. I drive for a small company, their HOS rating is over 80%. The threshold, I believe is 65%. The dispatchers continue to push. But, being a small company, I'm scared to say anything, in fear of losing my job. Sometimes, I have to put my foot down and say, "NO WAY, I NEED SLEEP"...

In another locked thread K&Bs DOT stats were stated. I find it no coincidense in how they correlate with what is seen in Abe's video -

    K&B's
    unsafe driving = 17.2%
    - they hire experienced drivers.

HOS compliance = 52.4% - They cannot plan a trip to save there lives and push their experienced drivers so hard they cannot hide the poor planning with good paper.

Driver Fitness = 55.3% - K&B cannot keep good drivers. With a high turnover they cannot get drivers that even meet the minimum qualifications of drivers: Licence and medical card. Office staff makes as little effort in checking drivers credentials as planning loads.

Controlled substances and Alcohol = 80% - Many of K&B's drivers resort to drugs and alcohol to compensate for the companies poor planning. Sleep is a little easier after a few drinks.

Vehicle Maintence = 51.5% - K&B does not care about their driver's safety or anybody else on the road. Maintence is an expense they just can't afford at everybody elses peril.

Looking at their stats with the DOT it is just not surprising that Abe's video demonstrates the same qualities of this company. No concern for anybody but their own fat office butts.

I can work for whoever. My record is spotless--thank God. I like the smaller companies, vs the big one's who give you a number and not a name. It's just my current employer is still "ole school", and isn't changing with the times. Which, I wish he did. I NEVER want blood on my hands for stupidity..

You won't only have blood on your hands, you will be IN PRISON doing time with a multi million dollar civil judgement against you to to pay when you get out. Meanwhile....the dispatchers, trip planners and office people will all still have their jobs, be living their lives with no problem, while you are in jail. You want to push yourself and risk that? For what? A Job?

I just now watched two K&B trucks swap trailers, here at Jubitz. One of them spun the tires pulling out from under the trailer, then, spun them again grabbing gears in the parking lot.

And this right here is why I finally, just this week, got out of trucking. The risks far outweigh the rewards anymore.

Thats the K&B hammer down so they dont have to call in to tell them the load will be late:smt043I cracked myself up.
Well if anything, Abe will be pretty famous out on the road.

There scores aren't actually all that bad, I was expecting much worse for them. There is room for improvement, but being middle of the road 50% in CSA makes you an average carrier, the Controlled Substances and Alcohol Basic would be my focus.
