Bottom line here is simple... Keep away from the bottom feeders, but I guess you have to start somewhere.

So turn it back around, Abe apparently had reservations regarding dispatch practices, he mentioned that in the intro, and mentioned on the phone while taking to dispatch.

He called to advise them of the fatigue problem(again, the reasons why are not germane to this conversation).

Conclusion:IMHO, he did his due diligence by making efforts to inform them BEFORE this incident occurred, They chose to ignore it.
He informed BEFORE he fell asleep at the wheel of an unsafe condition. They choose to ignore it and attempt to coerce and the threaten him to drive AFTER he notified him of the unsafe condition.

(What if the unsafe condition was a bald steer tire that he repeatedly tried to have fixed and they refused and finally he told them he wasn't driving anymore except to the nearest scalehouse! You think that doesn't happen? That exact scenario happened to me while at Knight Refrigerated! I posted all about it on TTR)

No doubt these things happen all the time. Any time a driver is calling in not wanting to continue working there is going to be push back. At some point you need to decide if it's worth it. Not only as a driver but as a company. Usually in any situation there is enough blame to go around. That's why everyone needs to look at the big picture, one isolated incident is not going to be enough. If you don't like the way you're treated it's time to move on. If you don't have option available it might be time to reconsider your career.

The problem is this...this is not an isolated incident...this is how k&b operates and frankly...there should be a chain and padlock on their front doors....for good!

This thread has some very good points made by both sides. Unfortunately it's all speculation, Abe has already proved he can't keep his stories straight, so hell how do we even know that was dispatch on the line? But really an awesome thread here.

It's up to you to rest. If the dispatcher doesn'tlike it, put your phone on airplane mode and sleep a while. Then start making notes on what is going on, and tell the company you'll be happy to pull in the next chicken house and sick the bears on them. If they let you go, find a better driving job. Who will fault you for doing the right thing within legal and moral parameters?
I used to pull 40 hr shifts as an outlaw driver, but that was only to support my family. But in the end, it was not worth it. Could have been killed pushing through the Rockies that way. Your life is more valuable than money.

Along with almost every other motor carrier, including bus operators.

Unfotunately, it is the business model for companies that think the only way to make more money is by forcing drivers to break rules. Instead of holding out for better rates from the broker/shippers who HAVE THE MONEY, they put the public at risk by forcing/allowing drivers to run illegal and/or unsafe.

I don't know about the rest of you. But I couldn't afford the fines when I drove. I sure as hell couldn't afford them now either.

One thing no one has mentioned yet.

On his you tube page he has a few vids trashing KB dispatchers before the incident. Definitely has a chip on shoulder and axe to grind.
