    Abe isn't special.

My son, who drives our other truck and is 28, is just like Abe only a little more mature. But not much more. In my past I've managed hundreds of "Abes." For about a two year stretch, I had a team of over 600 "Abes." He's not that complicated to figure out when you've seen that behavior pattern before.

So my suggestion, to Abe, would be to let it be in the past and not get upset when nights call him Mr. Sleepy. For whatever reason he chose to stay at K&B and try to make it work, but it he dwells on the past and how they've done him wrong it's going to get worse. For all the talk about lawsuits I don't think there is much of a case. While they did push him to run the load they ultimately cave and do the right thing in a matter of a few minutes. He also states that the issue was taken care of. There is not explanation of what that means, but I think that means that the "threat" of the service failure was negated. So while the idea of pushing him may have been outside the lines, they didn't actually do it. It appears as if they didn't actually hurt him financially, and it would also appear by this video and subsequent posts that they disciplined the night dispatcher. How much do you think he's likely to win on an intent without follow through case? They suggested alternatives, poor ones, and they overstated penalties, but appears as if they didn't act upon them.

Pattyj, would you be so kind as to reach out to Mr. Abe and see if he was in fact service failed on this load?

It would seem that most all of this was logged as off duty. He stated something along the lines of as soon as his next 10 hour break was complete to get going with the load. He did mention roughly 30 minutes after he woke from his previous break, trying to take a another 10 hour break wasn't possible because he's not a machine.

Remember most company owners and O/Os have been where Abe is, and they are trying to give him the advice they themselves used to get where they are now.

I think you're mistaking my comments regarding Abe, and people like him, for contempt.

That tone you may detect is not contempt. It comes from frustration at watching too many people with some degree of talent set themselves up for failure, no matter how obvious the outcome will be. I've seen this story so many times, only with a different Abe, maybe doing a different job. After leading many through similar situations, the nurturing element goes out the window.

At a certain point, it comes down to do you want to do the job or not? If the answer is YES, I'll do everything in my power to enable your success (and mine as a product of that), but I won't do your job for you. If your answer is NO, there's no shame in that. In fact I admire someone that recognizes their limitations and will bend over backward to help them move to a job they want to do. Sometimes that may be a job working for someone else.

True so they need to give all the Abes the benefit of the doubt. The time Abe accepted the load which was in the morning,he didn't foresee him to be tired because at the time he was wide awake.Abe tried to sleep thruout the day but after just coming off a 10 hr brk its hard to take another brk.Abe does not make it a habit to stop driving because hes tired. But ppl are making him out to be a whiner, not cut out for trucking all because the poor guy was tired.#### happens not everyone is diehard truckers and gets that load delivered no matter what.Trucking doesn't pay enough to risk whatever they try and force upon me.Everybody seems to know Abe better then he does but they wasn't there ,gee imagine that.I don't care who u drive for, theres going to be times youre just too tired to make that load.Give them a brk.

You have no idea. I didn't need Facebook or Twitter or internet anything to make a disaster out of my life. If fortune played any part in my life, it was that easy access to the internet didn't happen until after I matured out of stupidity rather late in life around 30 yrs old.

Its not that people cant do the job or don't want the job but sometimes your body tells u to stop and rest because you've been running too hard for the company.Abe is a good driver and has done a lot for kb,dispatchers should support that and help him out alittle bit.
