Dispatcher?

I'm no expert, but I did read a post on here that made sense. A guy stated that the driver who calls his dispatcher is calling one person. The driver who is calling the one person, will always think his call is not only the most important one but likely will think his is the only one as well. After all, what else could dispatch POSSIBLY be doing but waiting for my call? Imagine a guy sitting there in the dispatch office with 20,40 or 60 drivers all calling through the day and each one feeling so very special and add to that, as "Allow Me" pointed out, the load planners, shippers/consignee's, coworkers, etc all calling as well through that day!

True, I'm not even a driver yet, but I do have an appreciation for how busy an office can be. I've spoken with a few drivers myself having worked in a call center taking after hours calls for a Carrier refer dealer/shop, Zeitner trucking, Midwest Coast, and a few sundry tractor-trailer repair/parts facilities and I can tell you that some of these guys behind the wheel should be taking some human relations training, a class or two two in common sense along with some english skills work... I CAN'T imagine talking with these guys all day long, I'd have to strangle something just to calm down. :biggrin_25516: :biggrin_25510::biggrin_25523: A guy can interface with loud, obnoxious, bag-of-hammers only so long before reaching a need to leave the office fast. Having said that, about every other call or maybe every three or four calls, in actuallity, was a regular guy who is having a bad experience and needs help and is able to communicate without being rude and obnoxious to the point of just plain stupidity. I think some of these (other) guys hide thier lack of communication skills behind mouthy smart-aaasssss-ness.

So yes, I do feel for the average dispatcher out there, I feel for the call taker who also has to take calls for repair facilities from some of the drivers out there and therefore I will NOT be rude, stupid, obnoxious and will remember I'm not the only driver out there serving up a big steaming cup of "help me".

    -Rant off-
