I didn't call you a liar, however I can understand why you would feel that way. What I said was, "I don't believe you.". Which is to say, one of the following must be true:

    A. It didn't happen and it's just another silly truckstop story designed to make the DOT guys look like Nazi's.
    B. It did happen but the conditions were not as you described.
    C. It did happen as you described, but you were not assertive enough to tell the guy you weren't moving until the weather cleared up.

In other words, I can't believe you actually moved.

Perhaps, on both counts. That said, I do have two advantages over you; 1. common sense and 2. the ability to read and understand the FMCSA.

Guidance: Under this section, the driver is clearly responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle and the decision to cease operation because of hazardous conditions.
    Regulations Section

The driver is always the sole judge of whether or not conditions warrant shutting down at the nearest safe place.
Didn't mean to insult you Patti and I guess I did so I will say sorry.

Opus, I have plenty of commonsense, and critical thinking skills. I am smart enough to avoid rest areas in regards to taking a ten hour break. That my friend, is commonsense. Thirty years out here, I know a few things, but not anywhere near everything. Rest areas and cops, that I do know a thing or two about. And your book is meaningless... Again, you would know that if you have spent any time out here. ;-)
