Is a 60 day disqualification considered a suspension? I've had my Class A in VA for 8yrs and transferred my license to FL for employment purposes. Shortly after I switched to FL class A I was notified I would have a 60 day disqualification for 2 serious moving violations in a 3 yr period. One in a CMV and 1 not in a cmv. VA law is both have to be in a CMV for the 60 day disqualification and obviously FL is not the same. So when asked on applications has my license ever been suspended or revoked what should I put and is a 60 day disqualification considered a suspension?
P.S. Only replies from EXPERIENCED DRIVERS would be appreciated![]()

Isn't that Federal law,
not state.....
I believe florida was correct. -
CDLIS website states both serious violations have to be committed in a CMV for a 60 day disqualification.

was it serious violation, or major ???? -
I don't know if this will help or not but here in NC two moving violations in a twelve month period will revoke your license whether it be car or truck. The letter you received should state you had a supension of your license or not. You are a little vague by saying "disqualification". I would call Florida DMV and clarify whether you are suspended or not if in doubt. I would NOT continue driving untill you find out if you have a valid un-suspended license. If you get stopped in any state for any reason and they run a license check and you are suspended you will be looking at posting bond to get out of jail most likely...God forbid you would be in any type accident with a serious injury or fatality..I can almost guarantee you would never drive commercially again. This is serious stuff.

If you have been disqualified/suspended the letter should have an effective "begin" date on it. DMV's and letters from them are usually pretty clear and to the point.

I only have four years driving experience, so I guess my several years working closely with law enforcement, going through the academy myself and dealing with this sort of stuff is blown out of the water by my "inexperience" driving.
Figure it out for yourself. DMV might be a good place to start. -

You will receive a 60-day disqualification if you are
convicted of two serious violations within a three-year
period

as you can see, NO distinction form a CMV to a 4 wheeler.....
from the Fl CDL manual:
To obtain a Commercial Driver's License you must:
Be a resident of Florida.
Be at least 18 years of age to drive intrastate and 21
years of age to drive interstate. You must be at least 21
years of age to qualify for the hazardous materials
endorsement.
Surrender any and all other driver licenses issued by
Florida or any other state.
Not be under suspension, revocation, cancellation or
disqualification in Florida or any other state.

you were probably already under a disqualification in VA, and Fl just carried it over....
you NEED to get a copy of the florida DMV report on you. a disqualification should not have been a monetary situation where you had to pay to get your license back. if it IS mentioned on your DMV report, remember that as a CDL holder, ALL tickets go on your license.....now comes the question will those tickets you got in VA be reported on the FL DMV report.....if so, then yes, you gotta mention why you were disqualified.....this "could be" a deal breaker for you on your job hunt.
