Recently laid off and I was looking to get my cdl and drive a truck...checked into a bunch of schools and one very well known company shot me down because i had a minor fender bender back in march...my first accident in twenty years of driving..no tickets were issues...more damage to my car than the other driver and they said i had to have three years after the accident before they'd consider hiring me...I don't want to sound smart here but I'm guessing most drivers have had some blemishes on their record...just found that to be pretty ticky tack..especially since it was minor..no injuries..no tickets and little damage....while i am on it..how do i found out if this has even been put on my driving record?

You should be able to go to the BMV and get a Motor Vehicles Report (not sure what it costs). That will let you see the details of your recent record.

There is no such thing as "ticky tac" in the trucking industry. Every accident or ticket you receive in your car or a commercial vehicle is a big deal. Having said that, if what you are saying is 100% true and you are not leaving out any details I'm sure you can find a school to attend. Notice I said "school" and not company. A school will have access to hundreds of companies. Some may not hire you for this but some will.

Hey..all I said was, 20 years of driving and I didn't have an accident but a minor fender bender...I get what you are saying...but in no profession does perfection exist. No reason to blow smoke on a web board...all details were included...

Just keep trying others. Also, most drivers have flawless records. They all drive like your grandma.

I'm not blowing smoke. I'm being honest. If you start driving you'll see what I mean. It's ridiculous how picky some of these companies are. Good luck to you.

Understood..I didn't mean you were blowing smoke...I had meant I didn't minimize what had happened. I appreciate your candidness. I can already see how picky they can be. I'm trying to build a new career and I get static! thanks though..i appreciate it.

Spotless record here! Try other trucking schools. The one that shot you down for a minor accident sounds snobby! You probably don't want to attend there anyways. Good luck

Your last 20 years doesn't matter , the accident in march does. Your record is only as good as your last ticket or accident . Most places want 3 years with nothing.....

    Just keep trying.......
