Of course I heard the same thing... I didn't see you staring out your passenger side window... I didn't even see your blinker on. I didn't see for cars trying to race you thru the light... all I saw was you go straight in a turning lane... because officer they would not let me over... well after I give you this b******* ticket... since you're getting back on the interstate I will block 3 lanes of traffic for you.. so you can get over I know they won't let you over! WHAT!?!?!?!!!!!

He probably saw exactly what he wanted to see, which was a revenue generating victim. Like it's not bad enough with all the regulations we have to contend with, we sure as hell don't need this. I feel sorry for you, truly. When you care about your record and a corrupt "official" screws with it, you're a victim. I wish bad things on that cop and the system he feeds.

I feel for you. Problem with the 'we can't raise taxes' crew is they find ingenious ways of adding to their coffers.

It sounds like Texas is making a real profit on truckers with these short timed lights... I just listened to hour 2 of the July 26th radio program for America's Trucking Network and hear a caller about 10 minutes in talking about this same problem. Not sure if it helps you OP, but maybe consider calling in to this radio show and telling them about your nightmare and see if you can find other drivers for the class action.

Trucks, 47,000 lbs freight, and traffic control lights ... then add in a 45 or 55 MPH speed limit ... there is a point where if the light turns yellow, there is no physical way to get stopped in time or clear the intersection before if goes red and it is truly mind-boggling how often that yellow hits RIGHT AT that tiny point in time ... and sometimes a cop happens to be nearby, observing traffic flow. Then add in wet roads and light/empty loads ... no instant decision making challenges there, either.

Traffic control engineers often do not program in more "yellow" time for higher speed limit roadways, and seem to never consider heavy truck traffic, only automobile traffic requirements.

Then. sometimes they actually time the lights well to match the posted speed limit and if you err on the side of caution and drive 40 instead of 45 on wet roads, you're setting yourself up for an ill-timed yellow light.

The problem is the yellow phase is not timed to the speed of the road. Otherwise, big trucks, technically, would need to stop at all green lights in order to assure themselves to not run the light if it were to change yellow.

If a yellow was timed for trucks to either stop or clear the road (depending on how far from the light) based on the speed limit of the road, there would be no problem. But, these 1, 2 or 3 second yellows are impossible to comply with and that "do I goose it or do I skid into the intersection" pops into your head.
