This is the only industry that I know of where the employee is largely responsible for transportation and lodging costs to and from a job interview that is not in their state of residence - and on a BUS at that! Out of state companies that I've interviewed with have all paid for flights to and from the interview and a rental car at the destination, and a hotel room in some cases.

You can do everything; get a DOT physical ahead of time, get a 10 yr motor vehicle report, apply for and pass a hazmat clearance and they can still find a reason to send you home.
Make sure you can afford a ticket home wherever you go. -
Who's to say that you make it to class, or orientation and then can't pass the work well physical, even though you passed the DOT physical.
The companies have multitudes of ways to send you packing.
Remember, they have hundreds of applicants to choose from, daily. -
Guess my list has shrunk yet again

I may be down to Gordon, May, Central Ref, W/S, Navajo

One time I went to a previous company that I had worked at twice, figuring I would get re-hired again. They said sorry, only re-hire twice....so I went next door to another company, which brings me to a thought. I've worked for about 7-8 truck companies more than once, some more than twice. And I always drove my POV to orientation. I have to have some independence and not be totally dependent on anyone/anything !
windsmith Thanks this.
