I had this happen in ATL traffic today twice. It's so busy there you just about can't leave much room in front of you in certain situations. If you've been there you understand so don't be a supertrucker and tell me I don't know how to drive. I'm biting my nails until a few cars line up behind me after I come to a panic stop.

One thing I never do is listen to Romanian carnival music while texting my girlfriend so I'm hoping it never happens to me.

One thing that always amazed me while running the Atlanta 500 was how aggressive the friggin school buses drove.

If a panic stop is common you don't know how to drive.

And you can always leave a decent amount of space for the speed you're going.

I just stay alert and move, or not move, with the flow of traffic. I don't get hypervigilant, and I definitely don't leave a quarter mile of vacant asphalt in front of me. That creates turbulence and disruption. The cumulative effect of many people doing this, or merging too early or unnecessarily, etc. is what turns minor bottlenecks/delays into major ones.

I agree, Quarter mile for 4 trucks makes it a mile longer. These are the same ones that are in no hurry coming out the other end.
