I had a minor fender bender a few months back...I utility trailer came off a car in front of all the cars in front of me in early morning rush hour traffic and everyone came to a fast skid..I tried to stop but I had a 44000 lb load and we were going down hill in the mountains near Wilkes-barre, PA. Anyhow I managed to escape a could be serious accident. I was going to go around on the shoulder but everyone else was thinking the same. The guy in front of me cut me off...but he had no choice so I didn't blame him for doing that. I ended up hitting the car in front of me at about 5 miles per hour with about 1500.00 bumper and tail light damage. No injury so we were lucky. The police came and filled out an incident report and did not give me a ticket. The Cop said this was unavoidable situation and appeared to be under 1000.00 in damage so no accident report was needed. We just exchanged insurance info and that was about it. Then Both of us drove off. Our company insurance paid to fix the guys car. I checked my DMV long form record and nothing is on there about the accident. I guess since I did not receive a ticket it did not end up on my DMV record.

My question: Is there a record someplace that trucking or insurance company can get that will tell them about this. Or can I just not worry about anyone finding it out threw some kind of database or record system. Are all the trucking companies Just able to get DMV long record or are there other ways to get accident records? What records can they get? I do prefer to forget about this and just move on.

If the claim was payed by your insurance company then there is a record of it.

Well, if the police didn't give your any ticket and was not charged for anything, then nothing would show on your DMV report, but however if the company you work for see it different, they could put something on your DAC report instead.

PS: If you decided to fill out a application for another company, it's the law to list all of your accidents that you were involve whether if it was not your fault from what I understood. This parts is what hurts me getting another job :(

    Wrong
If the accident is over 1500.00 here in Wisconsin it goes on your record.
Fact I had a fender bender. The cop didn't give me a ticket but said If I didn't fax him proof the accident was under 1500.00 it would be reported as and accident.

Absolutely. It is on your DAC record and if your company is like most, it is labeled as a preventable accident since it occured in front of you and you didn't have the space needed to slow down to avoid it.
My first year of driving I had a similar event, traffic came to a sudden stop in the rain in the right 3 lanes, I dodged over to the left lane just as a 4 wheeler did the same. The 4 wheeler continued to make a full stop even though there was no traffic in front of her. By the time I realized she was stopping and not slowing, I had closed too much of the gap and like you, tapped her at under 10 mph with relatively minor damage (taillight, dented trunk lid). It was preventable, it was a rear-end accident, and I was fired.
I was upset, after all I managed to brake from 60mph to under 10 and not lose the back end of a half-empty trailer on the wet pavement and felt I should've been given SOME credit for not killing the lady who had been A) behind the wheel for the past 14 hours and B) had personal luggage piled high in the car so she couldn't see out the rear window.
I got some satisfaction when the judge dropped the charge of failure to control the vehicle that the Virginia State cop wrote me ("if there is a commercial vehicle involved in any accident, we are expected to write a summons" the cop said over my objections).

And also, when applying for a job, you have to reveal ALL accidents, even if in your personal vehicle and even if you were not at fault.
