I personally used to drink a case of Redbulls a week.Yeah I know, but I didn't do it because i was fatigued I drank them because I love the taste of them. I would buy them each week at walmart though so they were quite a bit cheaper but still very expensive. I finally said enough and quit buying them. I personally don't like veggies very much and don't eat them. I have started to try and drink a small bottle of V8 SPICY everyday because it gives you a full days servings of vegetables and the spicy kind kills the taste of them.
I would definitely try something like you talking about if it was reasonably priced. If it tasted good I'd be a good customer.
Do a lot of truckers use energy drinks?

I use energy drinks alot. I used to buy the vanilla flavored Frapaccino from starbucks (cold) or if it was in the am and I am by a Starbucks, then a Caramel Frap for me.. woo hooo... But here lately I have started buying Monster but am going to have to wean myself off because if I have too many, I can't seem to form a complete sentence while talking and that might get me in trouble if I get stopped by a DOT
I drink coffee every now and then when I have to drive at night but I don't notice any more energy from it versus energy drinks. What is adequate rest? I drive team so sometimes my sleep varies from 5-8 hrs. I can't go straight to bed after driving. Have to wind down even when I don't have energy/coffee/soda to drink. -
i drink them a lot because i like the taste.
when i am tired i take a nap. -
I always have some of the 5 hr drinks in the truck for the "just in case" I drive nights and usually have no problem but as the week goes on some times I need one or 1/2 to finish the night. I don't drink coffee and Mt Dew has to much sugar.
I'd be willing to try a healthy alternative -
When my boss was having fun with us drivers and switching us from days one week to nights the next week the first two days of driving nights was horrid. About 5 hours into the 10 hour drive I would stop at a gas station and get me one of those "energy drinks. I would drink it around hour 6 and it would hit me right around the time that I would need it. What made me realize what it was doing to me was when I was driving on a state road out in the middle of nowhere. I was playing the music as loud as I could, window down (late summer early fall), knee a bouncing, hand beating on the steering wheel along with the music, and me singin along with the music. I bet I scared more than one local. When I got done that night I looked back on it and realized what I had done during my drive. That was my second energy drink ever, that was also my last energy drink ever. I did not like how it made me act with that "rush" and the crash was worst. I was tired but I could not go to sleep. Something in that stuff was keeping me awake which only made things worse the next day. And when I woke up the next day my stomach felt like I had been out all night drinking. I stay away from that stuff like the plague. Now I drink 48 ounces or less of soft drink a day, nothing after 3 pm or I can't sleep well at night. Anything after 3 is water. I have become more aware of me much needed sleeping needs.

Nope. Don't like 'em. Have a cup of coffee in the morning.

I have a favorite organic, all natural 'green' drink that seems to make me feel a little better after I drink it. A bit on the pricey side so I only buy them when I'm feeling sluggish or whatever. They have a variety of blends. The one I drink tastes ok as long as it's cold and shaken up. Packed with nutrients and all natural.

I used to drink energy drinks religiously when I had to drive in my trainer's truck. When I went solo, I started to drink coffee, then decaff coffee, then tea. Now all that I drink is water. The effects of caffeine in my body were getting ugly, so I had to stop. I can drive 9 to 11 hours easily everyday, but I find it hard to sleep at night most of the time, especially lately.

Coffee flavored Monster was a fav of mine until a nurse friend told me what that stuff is doing to my body.....I think she called it canned heart attack..
ghostchild Thanks this. -
When those things came out, I used to love them, especially the alcoholic versions. They'd be great for a Friday night party because it would wake me up after being up since 4am.
One night I was trying a different brand, and I hadn't drank all that much yet. Heart started beating real fast, started sweating, and I started having a panic attack to the point where I almost went to the ER. Wasn't enough where I overdid it with the caffine, especially since I can pretty much drink a pot of coffee and then take a nap, so I'm pretty sure I had an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients. Never had that brand again, but it happened to me again a couple months later drinking a different one.
No idea which ingredient gets to me, nor which brands have it, so I stay away from them all together and just stick to coffee.
