I got a job out of school delivering beer.
In the Central North Carolina area it's either beer or soda if you want to do local work out of school. Possibly a dump truck as well if the right company is hiring.brettw77777 Thanks this. -
I've never been otr. Before I got into the oilfield I did my 1st year doing food service. Worked 4 days a week grossing 1050-1175. Kind of low $$ for food service but I was home in my own bed every night

I am the originator of this thread and I have set up my own username this time.. one of the jobs in my area says:
"Drivers Full Time Out & Back Lanes"
Can someone tell me what that means? Thanks -
Does anyone have the list of accredited CDL schools these guys are mentioning in this ad?? Thx -
389Trucker Thanks this.

With drivers being scared of the camera which I think is dumb my company needs drivers. We have a dock to driver program. Try Saia out. You’ll work the dock but make more money on the dock then a first year CDL driver. But it’s only til they send you to school then you’ll start doing city work. M-F no weekends.

I was driving locally for farmers for a long time before I ever got my CDL. Once I did get my CDL I did nothing but local for about 5 years on and off when the job required it. Then went OTR with a small local family owned and operated carrier. This way I didnt have to have to go with a trainer... And orientation was "Fill this cup, here are the keys"... Never have had any official schooling. And I got my CDL less than 10 years ago.
