You can run 55 all you want but the mpg will depend on the truck specs. Just because you run slower does not automatically mean more mpg. My trucks specs are 550 accert cat,18spd, 336's with lo pro 24.5's and i get my best mpg atound 65 to 68 mph. I've tested slower and faster and running around 65 mph turning about 1400 rpm's is the sweat spot for me.

Tell that to TMC, Trans Am, Schinder, Swift, Werner. Most of these trucks are set at 60 -62, So tell them to do the speed limit when the trucks are governed. The companys are smart ones saving money by going slower.

You dont do 75, But you stay with the flow of traffic? Most 4 wheelers are going 75+ in those states. And I could care less if you a o/o, being one does not make you any different.

55 is a hazard when the speed limit is at 70 -75. Yes you can save some money by going a little slower. On the other hand, driving in large packs blocking the freeway for everyone is a huge problem. I set my cruise at 67 and do just fine as I dont haul cheap freight and then I have the ability to pass all the morons governed at 65 and blocking the road. Think about this, you are governed at 65, the other truck is governed at 65, everyone else can run at whatever they want. You go to pass the other guy but you can barely do so and you fight it out for miles as noone wants to back off. Now nobody can get around you. Thats not a good thing and doesnt mean everyone else should back off and just follow you. let those who can get around you get around and stop blocking up the road for everyone.

BTW RBHT is right. It all depends on your setup as to where you get the best fuel mileage. I get my best mileage at 62 mph. I like to run at 67 mph in a 70 or 75 mph state as that does good for me.

Its not so bad on interstates/4 lanes but definitely on 2. I passed a Rhoel driver doing 60 on a posted 65 mph 2 lane road and he wouldn't move an inch to the right, not even so I could see better around his trailer.

If your going travel at 75mph, it's up to you to pay attention. There's nothing dangerous for the driver doing 55. But if you run into the back of him, that's your fault. You should have been paying attention.

Don't worry about her. Worry about the teen girl in her VW Beetle drunk and texting on her Vibrant doing 90 mph. Once the lawyers get involved, its your fault and be prepared to pay big.

So by your logic being completely stopped on a 75mph highway with your 4 ways on for an accident and a 4 wheeler hits the back of you it's your fault? I saw this happen and asked the officer, he stated the truck driver was not at fault.

As long as you are over the minimum speed limit the law is the law. All this impeding traffic bs i see more than likely applies to driving under the speed limit for extended periods of time in the hammer lane. As long as you are in the right lane over the minimum speed and traffic can get around you i fail to see how one can get a ticket for impeding traffic, and my last words to the officer that wrote that ticket to me would be "see you in court". Then find me one of those ambulance chasers to make his life hell with discrimination and profiling lawsuits lol.
