Doesn't matter what the officer says, it's what the lawyers trick the jury into believing. Happened when I worked at Stevens. A girl on the I285 loop around Atlanta ran into the back of one of Steven's trucks on the side of the road with his 4 ways on. Despite the fact that he was in the breakdown lane, with his hazards and running lights on and that she was over the legal BAC limit, Stevens still ended up paying a large sum of money to her family and the driver had a fatality accident on his record.

That's the way it is. The deck is stacked against you already being a truck driver.

A friend of mine was struck in the left rear on the interstate by a speeding driver who lost control after impact. They went end over end in the median. The passenger was not wearing a seat belt.

    No ticket issued.

    Friend was sued.
Company he drove for was sued.

The company and the insurance company settled out of court for a good settlement to the 4 wheeler who rolled in the middle.

So, who do you think was at fault?

I know the answer to this one. The big truck and the entity with the deepest pockets. It is always the truck's fault, right?

This is how our modern society of entitlement that never takes responsibility for it's actions operates. Blame someone else and sue everyone, especially the one with the deep pockets.

    Bingo.

Log book was current and correct.

Truck was in its own lane, properly driven.

Attorneys found fault to the truck even though 4 wheeler got a ticket.

gravdigr, I stopped on the Tenn/Ark bridge to put a car fire out. Got a ticket for impeading traffic. Local PD. The Fire Chief on the scene tore it up, and refilled my fire bottles! Three other drivers stopped also. We all helped, the car was too far gone. 4 kids got to grow up! Roscoe P Coltrain wasted his time writing me up that day :) Had a tour of the fire station too, and dinner!
