And no one seems to consider the torque involved to remount the wheel.
    450 foot pounds.
How many of you have a 5 foot torque wrench on hand?

Let the people REALLY equipped to handle the job do it right the first time.
Is 2 hours of your time really worth the risk, or even really THAT important?

    Upright Thanks this.

    And is more always better?

I always thought being accurate was better than just winging it and hoping for the best.

600 ft/lbs on a car wheel is bad. On a truck that requires 450 you aren't going to hurt anything.

I have changed all my brakes myself with no help. Yes, removing all 8 drive tire's, 40 lug nut's and 40 wheel stud's, all manually, No air guns. AND reinstall all. I had someone try to tighten/check the outer lug nut's with a 3/4 impact gun, and he couldn't get the gun to tighten them more or even break them loose. EDIT: Forgot to mention, this was over 25 years ago. I got smart after's and bought compressor and impact gun's after.

Equipment used to be regionally spec'ed back then. We were in California and had tubeless back then. My uncle bought a brand new 1970 White Freightliner. It had 11/22.5. My dad told me that getting east, where they had spoke wheel, there were plenty of tire shops that couldn't change budds back then. They didn't have big impact wrenches.

OP shoulda ran it till the wheel fell off!!!!

You had 85psi? and 17 other wheels?
Ida kept on, try to get fixed on the 10....

Sidewalls? nope.....I did carry a heavy duty plug kit for years and years...But this was dumptruckin on and off jobsites and garbage dumps collecting nails and screws all the time..so i was pluggin holes for years...

(One time used the whole bag of plugs for a huge hole in a backhoe tire)..it worked for awhile, but eventually fired into space like a big stringy turd

Not sure how a self plugged hole would feel on the smooth highway at top speed...Im guessing a temp fix for sure
