We might have to. Burn the viruses in the exhaust system and fasten our lips around the top of the stack or pipe it into every home.

Up until recently I never wore a mask. I do now because my immune system is weak. However, there have been times when I was forced because of OSHA compliance to wearing a respirator because of dangerous things in the atmosphere. One of my friend's wife and daughter have worked in textile mills for years. I remember watching them have masks on going a long way back. The advice about diesel on the skin is spot on. I don't think the odor is dangerous as long as you have fresh air. I guess the most dangerous time for a trucker is when they run teams after the co-driver has eaten a lot of truck stop scrambled eggs.

first he MAY be wearing bags on his work boots, NOT for the smell, but for spillage ONTO hos boots.

and no, i never wore a mask

yes, diesel fumes may cause cancer, but so does eating some foods with all the chemicals they put into them, as well as soft drinks, as well as artificial sweeteners, as well as maybe a ga-zillion other things.

if you are that worried about cancer, may i suggest wearing a body condom...???

life is what it is, our environment is what it is,

you can get lung cancer just from breathing the air, as far away for any diesel fuel or gasoline pumps, if a volcano has erupted somewhere in the world

Now now, how could you possibly be gagging? After all, those trucks exhaust out pure clean air......, or so we’re lead to believe .

A simple 3M mask filter with little rubber bands to keep it on isn't good for much.

    Might stop larger particulate...MIGHT ! ! !

Cartridge respirators require fitting and training to select the correct cartridges; otherwise you are just fooling yourself. Using the incorrect cartridge eliminates most of the protection you are trying to achieve by wearing the respirator.

There is a reason for the SCBA [self contained breathing apparatus] firemen wear when fighting a working fire. The positive pressure mask keeps out the smoke and all the chemical compounds being released by the fire and are a life saver but, again, you need training and fitting to do it correctly.

Facial hair renders most respirators useless...A former co-worker who volunteered for a rescue squad said it was practically impossible to 'bag' +/or use an oxygen mask ventilate a heart attack victim with a beard...

There are only two times I have needed to wear a mask. One was for Halloween. The other time was when I was using the farm tractor to sweep the remnants of sand off the roads in the spring. The dust can become like a brown fog bank.
