Just wondering. I had a lung burn a year ago and have been checked out since and am ok. But I know companies will kick for various reasons.
Do companies ask for the abillity to search through all your old medical records?

I don't think an employer can "search" your medical records [yet]. A simple questionnaire on the medical form will ask you to list any/all other more serious medical issues you've had, not specifically asked about, but I suspect that is rarely honestly answered.

Medical requires your permission or a court order

I've never been asked for medical history...
Don't tell them anymore than you feel they should know.. -
There isn't any "Central medical records clearing house" out there. You go to your Doctor, what ever happens during your office visit stays in his office files. He doesn't send your info to a central clearing house.

Well it looks like the goverment will have access to your medical records as of 2014 if this Obumer care thing keeps going. Went to my doctor last month and he was writing down our conversation on the things I should be doing(diet and walking) and the things I shouldn't be doing (smoking and having a few beers I guess it is the lifestyle in Vegas). He then started to enter all of the info in the computer and I asked him what this was for and he stated he had to have all the info for the goverment as of 2014 or he would have to pay a fine for not complying. He asked me if I wanted to have access to my file and he gave me the site and a password. Looks like my insurance will go sky high if I can get insurance at all with all the high risk stuff that he wrote down. LOL Woops forgot Obumer care will cover my costs.
