If one company has bad info on someone - do they all know it?

ok, i'll try my best to explain (describe) DAC to you (and others). from its inception, believe it or not, DAC does not mean, "drive-a-check" the letters in DAC never meant anything from the guy who "invented it" and its all "hearsay" as to what those letters meant.

DAC (now known as Hire-Right) is a consumer reporting agency in its basic of all functions. it (DAC) is NO MORE THAN a holding place for companies to subscribe to and other subscribers to gather information from.

if you ain't a subscriber (like say a trucking company) then you cannot get information about a person.......

but YOU the individual can get information "stored" on you in the DAC files.

now, since all DAC does is "hold information",they themselves CANNOT add anything to your file, unless the subscribing company informs them to do so. DAC can and WILL remove information from your file, if one, you can prove its false, or two, then company that reported you goes out of business, this i know first hand as i had information about me removed from a "defunct company".

when you go to work for say "company A" and then you quit, or get fired, that company (as long as they are subscribers) will enter information about you.

your job, your time there, any accidents, if you are re-hire able or not.

now, let's say "company B" wants information about you.......as long as company B is a subscriber to DAC, they can only get information that company A put on file.........

so if company A says you are NOT re-hire-able, then your chances of getting a job with company B are slim to none..........

but then too, many companies know that information about a person can be "made up".........BUT NOT FROM DAC..........!! your former employer.......

as long as you leave a company on "good terms", meaning the obligatory 2 weeks notice, as long as you keep your nose clean, as long as you don't have any accidents, your DAC file "should be clean"...........

    http://www.hireright.com/CDL-Driver-Reports.aspx

every one is entitled to one free DAC report each year, or another free report if you are not hired and its said to be you had a bad DAC report.......

you download and print up the form at the link i provided........

you fill it out, check off the "free report", then YOU MUST make a photo copy of your drivers license and social security card, THEN you mail it off to the address.

takes about 2 weeks for your report to come back.

now, should you see something in your report you do not agree with, download and print the "dispute form" at the same address i gave you, and again, photo copies of drivers license and SS card, and mail that off.

they will add your dispute to the DAC, then send you yet another free copy that is updated.

beware, be VERY aware that many times, a bad DAC report, even with your dispute can still be reason for the "new" employer to NOT hire you as many times, they NEVER pay attention to your dispute, figuring its a case of "sour grapes".........

Another thing that is not talked about much is something else that goes along with the whole "defunct company" thing.
The person that adds information about you into the DAC system must be someone that worked directly with you. The company's are not allowed to just have anyone add the info.
If that person no longer works for the company then you can get the comments they added removed.
When you decide to fight a company over info they will not remove from DAC you file suit in small claims court. You do this in your home state, it does not need to be in the company's area.
If they do not show up to dispute then you will win and info will be removed.
If the person that added the info on you cannot show or prove to DAC that the info is correct, then they have to remove it.

This is a long process, but because of this most people get legal help to get it done.
All DAC is at heart is a credit reporting company. They must follow rules.

DAC is the tried and "true" method of blackballing drivers, but now it looks like CSA-2010 may be doing the same as well. Anytime you get a DOT Inspection report from a Trooper or DOT agent, even if it was just for a warning, it goes onto your CSA-2010 profile that companies are now required to use by the FMCSA.
