From things I've read, it sounds like DAC IS a perfect place for some of these horrible companies to stab you in the back. Some of the things I've read could make someone afraid to get in a truck at all!!
You get fired? They say 'you quit'! You resign 'by the book'? They say you still work for them! They tell you in essence to break the laws, then say don't break the laws. You don't want to be fired or get a black mark for a late delivery, but YOU pay the fine if you get caught trying to save a reefer load that THEY screwed up! JC! How does anyone last??
It's pretty ironic that it must be one of the most regulated businesses in the country 'for the public's safety', but no one is regulating the companies for how they treat the drivers, the ones between a rock and a hard place. The ones who are ultimately the true keepers of the public safety!!! For all the risk involved, even a new driver should be able to earn a respectable living for Gods sake. Even the Burger King pays you what is due, ON TIME, without a weekly struggle! And you don't even have to buy the meat and potatoes first, then wait for payday for the RETURN of your money. Respect begins with the employer. The people PRODUCING for them need to feel appreciated or they end up resentful and angry! And THAT can't be good for the bottom line! I'd bet that the 'good' companies to work for, in the long run, have the best profit margin too.
Is it me, or is there something profoundly wrong here? It wouldn't be that hard to clean this up. Sigh, Oh why do I ask? It's the same greed, lack of pride and ethics, and disregard for our fellow humans that has saturated our society today. SAD! Speaks of Third World living to me.
