Are you using it as a sleeper berth? -
At the port headed to Winnipeg two years ago, they took my drivers license, passport and left me in the room. Came back in 10 minutes and said, can you prove who you are. They had all of my ID.
Pulled out my TWIC card and they were surprised and let me in.
Never been arrested or anything except testifying in court and of course speeding ticket when I was 16. -
I was asked by a cop to search my truck when I first started driving, I had been on my own maybe 3-4 months, this was back around Easter of '96. I refused and the cop became irate, started screaming and threatened me with arrest. After asking for a supervisor several times, he threw my license and truck paperwork at me and stomped back to his patrol car and sped off.I used to be a real hot head when I was younger but somehow managed to just stay calm and I think that's what really ticked him off, I dunno. That was the only time I have ever had a cop want to search my truck other than a cursory look from the steps.
As far as Canada goes, I've only been there 3 times and the first 2 questions I have been asked are "have you been to Canada before and when?" and "when was the last time you were arrested?" in that order all 3 times. I answer yes and over 10yrs ago for a bar fight and there was no conviction for anything. Hasn't been a problem thus far. -
You guys get a lot more interrogation going to Canuckistan than I do. I'm asked how often I come to Canada and how long I'll be there, then told to have a nice day. Once my PARS information wasn't in the system, but as soon as I got it straightened out I was good to go.
Now that I've said that I'll probably spend six hours getting beaten with a phonebook under a naked lightbulb the next time I go. -

Sorry, but something doesn't wash with either yours or some of the other stories.
Agents are not given the "flexibility" like that to make random decisions.

Of Canadian border personnel.
They are rather strict on what agents can and cannot do. There are rumors I here like this all the time. It turns into when you really dig into it, there's inevitably a "detail" like a dui missing. Not just an arrest or some other claim. -
I agree with you there DrivertoBroker. Had never been there until this past year and each of the 3 times that was the question I was asked. Ive done background checks on myself and they've all com back fine, but apparently Canada is all-knowing, I dunno....So far it hasn't been an issue but I really don't like going up there.
