Do law abiding people want to drive any more...I'm new on this site but it sure seems that lots of folks with legal problems are trying to get into the industry...when I started if you had any kind of felony conviction or even a serious misdemeanor companies would not even look at you. Times change I guess.......

I would talk to as many companies as possible and get approval before signing up for school. The smaller companies may be a little more lenient. Give it a shot!

How can you say that? He screwed up and he knows it. It appears that he has learned his lesson. Does that mean he should be barred from trucking? Have you never made any mistakes? If the world was a perfect place it would be a pretty dull place to live.

Their is a fine line right there in that last paragraph. Mabe someone else can chime in and say yes or no but when you get a CDL it links you nationwide. I got a ticket in New Mexico a long time ago while in a big truck, lost it and forgot about it. I got pulled over in Texas which is where I live and my license was suspended in my home state. That made for a big deal due to the fact that in TX if you get caught driving while license is inactive and you have a CDL that automatically suspends your CDL for a year. My class C was good during that year but my class A was suspended. I had to pay the surcharge for 3 years at $260 a year after that. Their is that line there that is very easy to cross but i dont know if it will effect a new CDL. If you dont pay the surcharge your TX driving privelages are suspended until you pay.

I believe it is just the oppisite. In 1979 owned my own truck hauled my own product no logs at all no goverment oversight held licenses in 4 states big bottles of lil blk pills and sleeping over the wheel
racing down the highway as fast as the truck would go. paid fines at scale houses never had to worry about anything.
That is the way i remember the good ole days. Today they at least keep jerks like me off the road
Of course I am not the same person anymore either
