Hi, I worked my first trucking job for 5 months and 3 weeks. Now I have taken some time off and soon I'll be looking to get back to it. Do you know if most companies would seat me right in my own truck or would I have to go with a trainer.

I'm hoping for my own truck. I loved trucking, but could not stand being with someone in the truck for so long, not to mention I couldn't sleep with the truck moving, etc.

If you asked me, when I am a MUCH better driver now than when I left the trainer in the first place. Why, back then I was nervous all the time, but now, while I am no expert I feel much more comfortable on the road, so to me it makes sense to just put me in a truck.

    Thanks for your replies.

If you go with an interstate company, you will almost certainly have a trainer again. Not just for driving, but for policy and the like, as well. (Yes, there are some that don't use trainers - not sure how I feel about that)

Local companies.. may or may not use a trainer..The ones I've talked to are about 50/50 - Van/Reefer based companies don't have the bodies to spare. Those with specialized trailers (tank/belly dump/etc) will provide at least SOME training on the equipment. Usually.
