Hello,
I just started driving again after 25 years between...
Do I have to fill out a log book for part time (8 hours a week) driving?
Do I have to turn in my log book to anyone?
please advise.

It depends. If you stay within 100 miles and your company doesn't require it, than no.
If you are driving outside the 100 air mile radius, than you have to, regardless of the hours.
You are required to keep copies of the logs for the previous 7 days and the company is required for retaining their copies 6 months. (395.8k)b1inhim Thanks this. -
100 air miles sounds right. But you must be on a timeclock, or some other time record.
b1inhim Thanks this. -
Well as much I have to admit that what I do not know, I need to know for sure...
IF anyone was to google my screen name, they will find out that I am a child of God.
Most generally I frequent a different forum and use the most sold book in the world to reseach, prove and evidence with.
I am pretty sure that there is a book that we use here to regulate our actions when driving...
PLEASE...
What page or reference number can I go to in the DOT Regs book that clearly shows the answer to this honest question that I have made here.
Wow... I can answer the questions of Life and know how to excavate mountains into pads for home and shopping centers but I do not know the answer to such a seemingly simple question.
Whoda thunk it?
I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the two of you who have answered so far.
THANK YOU

You can buy an FMCSR at any truck stop = makes as much sense as the bible does, maybe you can figure it out

49 CFR Part 395-Hours of Service of Drivers. specifically 391.1(e)(1) 100 Air Mile Radius Driver describes the exemption formmaintaining a log book if you operate within 100 air mile radius [114.63 statute miles] and return to your work reporting location and are released from duty within 12 consecutive hours and have 10 hours off between shifts. Your emoployer still needs to maintain a time record [time sheet you fill out -or- a time clock] to monitor your hours AND if you run over 12 consecutive hours -OR- leave the 100 air mile area you need to draw a log.
CondoCruiser and b1inhim Thank this.
