If you have the chance, do it.
The Neah sayers tend to be like the dinosaurs.
Or even jealous that they aren't or weren't able to do.
They were slaves as they say, but to a family or a job, the day to day grind.
I'm doing it know, wish I had years ago.
I make a butt load of money. I bank most of it. I've got credit but can pay cash for most anything.
I rent nice cars, cheaper than buying ot leasing.
I see places monthly than most folks save to do all year.
My kids have all been on road and loved it.
When I decided to buy a house, it'll be where I want, and with pretty much cash.
To each there own. But don't see the point of trying to be self righteous.
if it's your dream, follow it.
I promise you'll regret not doing it.
Oh yeah. I dress well too.
    Dont conform to society rules
Hopefully you can show living in a state like Texas, no state taxes.
Need a good cpa. Can't claim per diem unless you pay rent. You can claim paying friends or family. But they'll have to claim that as income.
In long run can pay them the difference and still be money ahead.
It's not hard, just plan ahead.
    Let me tell yah, son...

You have a good plan for a single person. Before you pick a company, check the running area. Some companies don't run all 48 states & some run all 48 plus Canada & Alaska.

as mustang, and lots of other said, totally possible
my first year, I got rid of my apartment, put my stuff in storage and spent most my time on the road. like the post on the first page, that got all butt hurt cause now you're a 'slave'... um... the difference being a slave without rent to pay? whether someone had a place to live or not that they themselves were paying for has nothing to do with how the major truck mills operate. even the newbies living on their own or with family are "slaves" in once sense or another, and I doubt those who get all worked up are free from any type of 'slavery' themselves, they just see their slavery higher on some pedestal than others.

Its a means to an end. I knew my first year would suck, no matter what company I went with, so I planned accordingly. I got rid of any expenses I didnt need. I was hired out of an area where I didnt have family, originally from NY so I definitely wasnt going to be based out of the north east, was much easier out of Colorado. when i wanted time off, I took vacation, flew out to see friends or family. I took days off when I wanted, I went where I wanted, I bought what I wanted.... HOW HORRIBLE!
Its your life, the only person you have to please is yourself.

You can stay out a yr,companies don't careThey're not going to kick you out of your trk unless its to move into another truck. But in due time that'll be the next law, drivers must go home once a month.Nothing surprises me anymore.

now that will bite, we would have to rent a place, or something. We are on our way to OKC, have a delivery their, our yard is their, so we booked a hotel room for the weekend. Our AC needs some work, door locks ( we have the darndest luck with the drivers door) and a tire switched out. Unless it's something complicated should be done tomorrow, but we still gonna take the weekend off. We don't even have a "home" anymore, just an address our mail can be sent to. I know one of he husband wife teams at our company has no home either and haven't for yrs. Sold it banked the money and are saveing up for retirement.
