and also since I was told I could only get Tanker endorsement, hope not, and I guess I do need a Doubles trailer to be able to get the double endorsement after I get the CDL to be able to get the road test for doubles inTX

Not sure about TX but in most states the tanker, doubles triples, hasmat are just endorsements. To take the cdl-a test you will just need a truck (class 8) and a trailer

Weeezerd Thanks this.

they're just written tests!
just study with a highlighter for a few days!
good luck -
Pick up a study guide at any Texas DMV.

Not needed in Texas, Fort Worth resident here. The tanker, doubles, and hazmat test are all taken at the DMV computers.
Skills test is allowed in any tractor trailer combo.
Only endorsements that require separate vehicles are passenger(must seat 15+ people) or schoolbus(must be a Schoolbus with all safety equipment/lights in operating order).
If your going for hazmat also I added a step by step guide thread for Texas about a year ago.Weeezerd Thanks this. -
About 2,000 people got their CDL class A drivers license from a chicken farmer in Arkansas when Clinton was governor, no tests required, just cash.
