Don't bother with any of the solicitors. They're all a waste of money. IFTA is set up through your state. Usually same place you get your IRP plates. Not sure which HUT he was talking about. Maybe the 2290 form you need to file?

Yes I found out how to file for IFTA.

I have question regarding IRP. IRP is required before I start business or I should do once I have some miles and Fuel expenses to report?

trucko what kind of truck and trailer did you buy? Did you get a hotshot rig? How will your gross stay below 45000?

Wow, you have a lot of questions. That's a good thing. I see you found the answer for the IFTA, that is usually through you state's IRP or Prorate Office.

With regards to your IRP/Prorate account. That is your base plates/license plate for your truck You need that before you can drive the truck legally under a load. For your first year you'll be looking around $1800-2000 for the year.

As for the HUT, only thing I can think of is the Federal Heavy Use Tax that covers July 1st to June 30th every year and costs $550 per truck. You'll need that document before you can get your base plates. Now when you go to file that with the IRS you can prorate that since the truck won't be put in service until March, So it won't cost you the entire $550, probably more like $180ish.

Your UCR, you basically go to the state of Indiana to file and pay for that. Just do a quick google search for UCR, also known as Unified Carrrier Registration.

While you have been waiting for your MC to go active, have you been putting together your driver file? Taking your drug test? Getting the DOT inspections done on your equipment? Get enrolled in a drug consortium program?

YOU WILL NEED YOUR pre-employment drug test and the results back, driver application completed (yes an real application like you did when you went to another carrier), and driver background check done before you pull your first load. If you don't, you can potentially fail your new entrant audit and be shut down.

Now you are doing call hauling which I have no clue about and I know there are some difference compared to box or flatbed, I think Insurance is a big one. I would suggest you hop over to the car hauling section on here and start a new thread with your questions.

I think I answered all the questions you asked. If not let me know.

    Good Luck!

That is a lot of things still to be done.

I filed Indiana UCR online paid $76. and in Instructions it says keeping Receipt in Vehicle that all I need to show the proof of UCR

I never did any drug pre employment or background check. But I am myself Driver for that Truck. I have CDL

What would you suggest to do minimum to get it done?

    I am little confused.

I am not over 55 000 and I guess I do not have to pay Federal Heavy Use. Am I right?

Also on IRP page I went through Calculator and it gave me quote $150 based on the model and number of axles I will have and the weight I will pull. Am I doing something wrong?

Also when this IRP is paid

I have to pick up my Truck from dealership and bring it to CT DMV for registration. Is this IRP done during registration? Are not they give me number plates there?

Even though you're the owner and drive you still need to the pre-employment drug test, fill out an employment application that covers the past 10 years, contact your employers from the past 3 years requesting proof of employment and that you passed all your drug tests with them if your position required dot drug tests.

I have a long term plan, not just buying a truck and pulling loads. where do i want to be in 1 year, 3 years 5 years, what are my goals to start a company, do i grow or stay a 1 rig operation, Im not telling you what you need to do im just telling what i am doing. Starting a business without a plan is being unprepared. I dont really care what you do, i just state what i do. Market analysis and revenue expectations just make me prepared and then i can get business credit in case i need it. if you are happy living load to load thats cool. thats not my plan.good luck....
