Get online and fill out applications. Doesn't cost anything but time. It's like fishing. If you throw a bare hook enough times, eventually there will be a fish that hits on it. Might only be a blue gill. But it's a fish. Then you can use the blue gill for bait to catch bigger fish.

He could probably just do a refresher course which is usually a week shorter and therfore cheaper. All you'd have to do is pass the school written and road tests bing bang boom u got your diploma!

Get away from the computer and go get a job. Knock on doors and network with others. The good jobs aren't advertised on the internet and they aren't having you fill out online apps.

Put some work into it and you will be way ahead of the rest of the crowd that takes the easy route.

No. You apply for a passport, the FBI does a background investigation (they really do) and once they verify you are qualified, they mail your passport to your address of record. When you appy, tell the truth in the answers, don't use the "gloss" approach.

I have a passport card I think it implies citizenship, unless everyone is now a birther and wants to see a long form birth certificate, its just about convenience to carry a card instead of a paper folder with a long form birth certificate, I do have the short form birth certificate all folded up in my wallet.

I'd hazard a guess that 90% of the truckers who've been out here more then 15-20 years driving, have never had any "formal training" and somehow they managed. But, things do change I suppose.

I got my CDL on my own in 2007, Back then, every company I applied with, said the same thing, "Get experience or go to school. I went to Roadmaster, they did not teach me anything, but I got a job with Crete right out of school. As stated above, things may have changed.
Good luck to ya, keep the wheels turning.

That's for the company to decide, but the mega carriers they all require schooling I think. The smaller carriers not so much.

That's probably good enough; make some phone calls and submit some applications.
