I was wondering if some one can help me figure out if i need a cdl in CA for just hauling a single car trailer with a dodge 1500 pickup? Im just want to make a few more bucks per month as a side business. Any info would be helpful.

Unless I'm mistaken you won't need a CDL unless you're hauling over 26,001 pounds.
If you're looking to drive for hire you might need to look into commercial insurance however.

Everyone has one, you might as well get it so you can sit at the cool kids table

I Would check with the State laws regarding that. The difference is you can pull personal property on a trailer without a CDL. Transporting as a form of Commerce is regulated by the DOT.

Well, before you worry about that CDL, you need authority and all the fun that goes with it, as a side job, the insurance will cost you more than you can make, and that 1500 isn't going to cut it.

I'd just get a part time job somewhere, you'll make more money that way.
