My 2008 Cascadia is slowly bankrupting me so I want to change the injector wiring harness on my Series 60 DDEC 6 14L myself.
Do I need to remove the Jake brakes to change the harness?
A YouTube video said yes, but a mechanic on justanswer said no.
Do I need to remove the Jakes when replacing injector harness Series 60?

If you watch the video and it looks like the jakes are in the way, remove them. Or...try to remove the harness without taking out the brakes.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
it may be possible on a dd6 but much easyer if you take the jake off

I’m not sure on 14L, but 12.7 jakes are very easy to remove, if needed.

If you study the book and look and take pic. before you take wires out you may find a place where wires are rubbing from them put in wrong, there is only one way to put it in right and many ways to put it in wrong where wires will rub over time?

I don’t know about Detroit, but with cat, the jakes come off when you remove 2 nuts and one bolt for each Jake head. Label each Jake or take note where each Jake came off. If you do that, you will not have to reset the valve lash when putting them back on as long as you don’t turn the motor over. Everything stays the same. I have done this several times and yes makes changing a harness out a breeze

Thanks to everyone for your replies. Just one more question. How tight are the bolts holding the Jake brakes and do I absolutely need a torque wrench to retighten them?

you will need the wrench.
