The dui is holding you back that's a big no no especially for someone with no experience

The 2008 offence is the problem. You may have to wait until it's 5 years old to have a reasonable chance of driving employment. Look for something local in the meantime, like delivering furniture for a furniture store or something on Careerbuilder. Contact local courier companies.
Try these 3 as a last resort:
Carolina Cargo
Paschall Truck Lines
Panther Expedite -
Honestly I don't know why employers have such high expectations and pay so low. Yes, the DUI is holding you back only because you don't own your own rig. Companies are at the mercy of the insurance company. If their company doesn't want to take a costly risk on you, that's all she wrote dude.

Its the DUI. Some companies may look at you next year, some in 2018. Plenty have a zero-tolerance policy on DUIs. Should've done a bit more research before you shelled out the cash for a permit. Sorry.

Some might see a pattern there.
Another clean year might help.
But those prone to seeing a pattern
might consider the occurrence pattern over due.
It could take 10 years before any worthwhile companies show interest in hiring you.
If you're serious about gettin' into the industry, you must keep your record clean. Employers are gonna wanna know if there's gonna be a problem. A squeaky clean record is a good indicator a problem no longer exists. It's up to you to prove that.
As has already been mentioned, alcohol related offenses are huge obstacles to overcome.
And more difficult.
But not necessarily impossible.

No DUI's. that's a big no no. Drug related offenses and DUI offenses are the two biggest reasons people are turned away. Before you start applying again, check to see what their hiring policy is for DUI cases. As Brisms said, could be 5 years, 7 years or 10 years. Some companies not at all. Can't blame them as a DUI shows a lack of judgement.

Unfortunately, you're pretty much UN-hireable as far as the mega carriers go. I had a MIP in 1997 and a DUI in 1999 and I've been turned down by Werner, Schnider, Gordon, Rohel, Marten, and the mighty CRE.....Still waiting for a denial from Swift, USA Truck, and Navajo, I'm sure they're coming. Check with the recruiter and let them know about your charges before you take off to any "orientation", they'll bring you out there knowing #### well they're just gonna send you home in 2 days. I wonder if the feds realize they're getting played for the tax breaks these companies get for "hiring" people like us only to send us home in 48 hours. I'm still in trucking school and looking, but I've pretty much given up on the mega carriers.....it's their loss as far as I'm concerned. Being deemed un-employable for having a BAC of .045 (i was 20) almost 14 years ago and being in a car with beer in it almost 16 years ago is a ******* joke.

If the DUI was that old there shouldn't be a problem.
