Depending on the year and which engine is in the truck will determine if it has and actual Jake brake or not. Do you know any of the specs for the truck?

I have seen mixers equipped with jakes. It has been so long though I can't remember any details. I do think the mixers I remember were on International Chassis.

A lot of the mixer trucks here do. Most are KW, Mack, & International. These are all owned by Adam’s trucking. The Wells group, and other smaller plants I’m not sure about….

Depends on whether or not the mixer company man who orders the trucks put a check mark on the spec sheet for an engine brake. Always been optional for the most part. Back in the day they were always dealer or aftermarket installed. Cummins would not install or warranty a engine with a Jacobs brake on it due to politics and jealousy of who invented it.

I don't know any of the specs other than it is an approx 2005ish? Peterbilt 365. There are one of two long steep hills that I go down now and then where it might be a good idea to use the Jakes.

Good know. I am pretty sure this one doesn't. I will try to take some photos of the buttons, there are no labels on them just symbols. I think the symbol for Jake Brake is an engine surrounded by semi circles.

I knew Clessie Cummins had invented the Jake, I forgot he had left Cummins a few years prior to its invention.

Back when Clessie had the patent and partnered with Jacobs to build it they were the only compression brake in the world. The stock holders and new upper management of Cummins Engine Co. at the time wasn’t interested in the “old man’s” crazy ideas. Lol!

Cat sdp, Labrador and Hammer166 Thank this.
