Im going out this weekend to purchase a CB but need to know from your experience do the trucks (all or most) come already equipped with antennas or is this something I should pick up as well?

Most of the trucks do not have them. A good amont of them have the cable for the tv hacked away. A run a predator 10k for the cb antenna (make sure you ground your antenna to the frame via a ground wire) and installed a rabbit ear antenna on a pvc pole mounted on the rear of the tractor and ran the wire thru a hole drilled on the back wall. The 10 foot pole is on two brackets that I tighten down with a wing nut and bolt. This allows the antenna to be about 2 feet higher than all the trucks around me when raised up so I don't loose reception when trucks are driving around me in the TS.

It may not be the antenna but the cable. You get what you pay for. A wilson antenna with a good cable will do fine. Don't forget to run a ground cable from the frame the one of the bolts on the antenna clamp. If you buy the antenna from a roadside cb shop they will usually tune your antenna to your cb. Don't forget not to coil the cable. I run mine along the dash. I'm getting a 1.4 swr on my set up. Good luck.
