I pulled for 2 of the larger teams for about 8 years...

You give your life to them and there is way more than driving involved..
You stock the hauler and have to know what each team member likes as far as food,snacks,drinks,ect...
It was a dang good paying job back in those days but when the economy crashed Nascar went to crap.

Rick Hendricks requirements for a hauler driver is 2 pages long now.
You drive, cook, clean and they want you to have metal fab, engine and chassis experience!...
And the pay is less now too!

    this, what he posted....
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I drove for a guy back in the early 90's that had a Busch team......I ended up running with the driver of the transporter, he echoed everything that you posted.
Talk about a reality check he went into detail everything that job involves....It isn't the high profile glamour job I thought it was at all.

Those billionaire drivers didn't have their personal servants with them?

I'm with you Bob. Was at Eldora last year in May for USAC and WOO, but I missed the Kings Royal. Hopefully Tony will be out there a few times this year racing.

Yes they do....Sucking up to them in their multi-million dollar motor coaches..
That is a whole other job there!
I took care of the pit crew.

After doing that for a few years I got into PR work...Pulling around a race car to corporate events for the sponsors..Now that was fun!
I had a full blown race car and a pit box,tires,fuel,ect...Brand new truck and trailer,A company credit card with a 50k limit....

They would have me show up,do some burnouts and get the big wigs pumped up!
I would do a 6 hour deal per day....load up and gone to the next gig...

The fun part was I perfected drifting in a race car!...lol! Gave a few hot girls a ride too!...Shhh!

I was there for that event in May also! I'll be back for that this year, too. I haven't been to the Kings Royal for a few years. Unfortunately, I lost some sweet reserved tickets at the top of the front stretch grandstands due to getting married a couple of years ago... (cue the sad music)

Our seats are reserved every year too. We are in section J, down at turn 1 on the very top row, right in front of the women's bathroom entrance when we come to the World 100. They are great seats unless it's hot. Being under that roof you don't get much air in there.

if you want to haul a race car you could do what i did, build a racecar....lol then you get to haul it. and even better you get to drive it. now if only i had the time/money to be able to do more than maybe one race per year it would be even better or if i had the skill to make any money it would be even better yet. of course the series i race my car in prize money is paid out in change so your not making any money even if you win....lol

EZ Money and Crusader66 Thank this.
