No two trucks shift the same. At least for me, even with identical fleet trucks, I have to get a feel for every truck I drive.
Now that said newer trucks should be smoother as there is less wear in the drivetrain.Grubby, tscottme, LoneCowboy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Newer trucks are a dream to shift compared to old .
I don't miss trying to shift my 85 kw Coe with cable shift in sub zero temps ...needed a pry bar to shift it lolGrubby, austinmike and EZ Money Thank this. -
Mine's REAL easy to shift. I just step on the fat pedal, twist the RH stalk forward (or reverse) slightly, and step on the skinny pedal.

They all shift the same. -
No.

Just grind it till you find it. But not in my truck, I'd hurt you.
Grubby Thanks this. -
No. My last company job I drove a 2017 Mack and it was "temperamental" in the shifting department.
I bought a 2012 Volvo and rides better and shifts better with almost a million miles.
No two brands shift the same and no two trucks shift the same. -
Depends on how beat the transmission is. New/reman transmission shift pattern should be a lot tighter than a worn out transmission.

I have been in 6 trucks in the last 9 months now. None of them have been really in any way similar. Hell, even then 2 automatics I have been in didn't drive the same and they were both freightliners from the same year with similar mileage.
