I'm new to this life so be gentle lol. My fiance has been driving for Werner for 4 months almost five now and has had a slew of problems. Ranging from waiting 5 days for a load, an old truck that broke down, not getting paid right, just got a newer truck but is fixing to have to get another one. We live in Louisiana and before Christmas he was told that maybe he could get on the target account so he could be closer to home and have more home time. Found out yesterday he can't get on that account because supposedly or home is too far from baton rouge which is bull. They told him he only had 2 options, 48 states, or drive for an account closer to home, but 2 weeks out, 2 days off, which isn't any better than before. and they cut his pay from .37 cents per mile to .27, and dead head pay to .15cpm. So with all that said, were wondering if and how that we'll affect his career if he tries to find another job. And if anyone knows of any companies inorarea that would hire him. Any info is greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Werner!

Are you indebted to them in any way, such as schooling, etc?

Welcome to trucking. When you find a outfit that has a fleet of trucks that never break down, let me know.

Every outfit has trucks that break down. It's how the company handles the breakdown that makes the difference.

And obviously, Werner does a poor job.

First piece of advice I'll give you is as soon as someone tells you to stick it out for 6 months or a year don't listen to anything else they have to say. They are bonehead sheep! It is never going to hurt to apply to better companies. The worst that will happen is they tell you to come back when you have more experience. Yes, there are many companies that will want more than a few months experience but there are also many who will hire with little to no experience. Better companies too!
