oh yeah....u just reminded me of another thing to say sdaniel......if the wind catches that tarp...LET GO....it aint worth it...(this may have been said...i cheated and didnt read everything) well his post ^^^^ i did.....but i tend to get bored easy with the real long ones.....sorry being honest....
but obviously not if you are ON the tarp.....

"I think you could have used your choice of words alittle better rather then calling them lazy POS.Flatbedders do work hard,especially the ones that tarp using steel and lumber tarps.Companies do not pay the drivers anywhere near enough to tarp.It's worth much more then $25.00.Companies get $125.00 from the customer an only give the driver a low fraction of that.They say they use the rest of the money for supplies but yet i've heard sometimes they still charge the driver.Then companies don't pay to untarp,how come?You haul covered wagon,is'nt that a wagon with a roll up tarp that's connected to the wagon?That's not that much work is it?Once the wagon is loaded you roll the tarp.Stepdeck you only have a foot to climp and you're on the trl.I don't doubt thats just as hard to tarp then a regular flat bed but you're not climbing on top of the load like some monkey trying to get the tarp over the load,you can do it from the ground..Yes you do work harder then us van ppl,but why work harder when we all get paid close to the sameFlatbeding is'nt for everyone,I hated it and it had nothing to do with being lazy.The tarp pay was enough to make me go to vans/reefer.Companies do not pay enough to do anymore work then I absolutely positively have to."
Ummmmm..... Im pretty sure you missed the whole point. First off I pull flatbed, stepdeck and cover wagon. My load is a 42,000lb locomotive engine. It get 18 binders and a 300lb tarp when not on cover wagon. I haul it 86 miles one way. Tractor is a KW800. I didnt call the Flat bedders lazy, I was referring to the people who told me never to drive flatbed ( I know you dont "drive" flatbed you pull it behind a tractor) Also if you would have properly read what I said, If I loose my current job I want to Go to a flatbed (heavy hauls) company across the "RustBelt" I80.Last edited: Jul 14, 2013

I had a flag pole delivery to a residential location. 52' cedar pole finished and smooth. And you can guess the resident did not have any way to unload it.
So. I told him. I could get it off real easy. Jacked the cab and rolled it off onto his front yard, and driveway and neighbors driveway. He signed the bills before I dropped the pole. He was thanking me up and down. As I drove away, he realized the neighbors driveway was blocked.
All I did was what the customer wanted. ". Can you drop it right here in front of my house.". I said sure can.......

I always get a signature before the load is un-secured. If its tarped, ill untarp it for them to check whatever the freight is, then they sign before unsecuring. Some customers come up with weird/dangerous ways to unload you. Like using a 5,000lbs fork lift to try to pickup a 10,000lbs piece of machinery. Yeah, that worked out well....

I had a farmer bring out a tripod and 12 guys in central California to unload 6 pallets with this tri-pod in a field. He signed first before I unstrapped. The last two pallets they pushed right off my trailer.

When running across US50 ('The Loneliest Highway in America'), everyone heading west shout with joy when they reach CarsonCity. Theres a little watering hole out in the middle of nowhere on 50...cant remember the name of the place...but i had stop (the boredom is lethal) and get some cholesterol. the food is good. Then again, it was like the ONLY restaurant in eternity. Decided to take 10 and run at night. The straights have to be over 10 miles long. I'd see headlights and it would take forever to meet the vehicle.
