Do companies actually consider the trucking school certificate? I thought all they were interested in was that you had obtained your cdl-a.

Some do, they want proof that you went through a verifiable, accredited school that meets their "standards"

    I stopped reading after:
Nobody is that stupid....and if they are, they certainly don't deserve our sympathy or help. And if someone already covered this, I apologize for repeating---yet agree if they see it the same way.

It might depend on who you talk with, because I had two (2) DUIs 20+ years ago and my recruiter was OK with that fact... but maybe things have changed since then. Even though I haven't drank or drugged for 20+ years, I have certainly found that many companies won't even talk with a DUI offender... but they do have that right.

I didn't much like Schneider either. I only lasted 3 months with them. Let me outline a few situations that happened to me there as to why I came away with a negative view of them.

    1. The truck they assigned me stayed in the shop with constant issues with the DEF system. On 5 different occasions I lost 1-2 days of productivity. 2 times at a Schneider shop. 3 times at Williams Detroit. They finally assigned me a different unit. More details to come...

    2. Brown shirt at Gary IN. claimed to have witnessed me exiting my truck without using 3 points of contact. He was apx. 100 yards away. He came up to me and scolded me. Said that I need to use 3 points of contact. I nodded, waved at him and said "thanks". He sent my DBL an e-mail trying to get me in trouble and claimed that I was extremely rude to him. Trying to argue the point with my DBL was a waste of time.

    3. Entering/Exiting the gate at the service centers. Sometimes you get right in or out. Other times like the NJ yard or Orlando yard you will wait 15 minutes or longer. Once at the Houston yard I waited, and waited. When the lady finally came on the speaker the driver behind me (who was parked on the street waiting to come in) blurted out a few choice curse words. The lady monitoring the gate thought it was me cussing at her! I denied it and she finally let me in.

    4. Now for the truck they assigned me after the one with the DEF problems. This was a nice (nearly new) truck. Unfortunately, it also had a problem. Or should I say (problems). A) Schneider cuts back the HP on their new trucks as a method to save more fuel. This equates to 10-15 MPH in low range while trying to pull a grade with a heavily loaded trailer. I had never drove a truck with that little HP or pulling power. It is a scary situation when you are on an expressway going 15 MPH and cars are going 80 MPH. B) the collision avoidance system had a serious flaw. Several times while driving with no one around me or in front of me, the brakes would suddenly slam on! This is quite a daunting experience when this happens as you can imagine. I couldn't take it any more.

My next post will be on things I LOVE about Schneider! But don't hold your breath.............

Then again looking at the OP's post, Hitler used a lot of initials and gave his upper eschelon a lot of fancy titles.....Schneider does the same thing STL, DBL,OC,btl, ##. etc etc etc, just sayin' lol

From my venture yes. Not sure on how credible most are but I did not go this route. Anyways, to update, I've been going back and forth with KKW Trucking out of Pomona and things might be in the works their for me to be in their training program soon. Anyone know much about them?

Rats like Schneider could pay the same. They get similar money for truckload freight. LTL is another story. Just because they don't pass it on to the drivers don't ever think they are that much cheaper then other carriers. It's all about getting it out of the employees and equipment. Slow trucks that get good mileage. Cheap trucks. Not going to see many PACCAR products painted orange. Self insured so all incidents MUST be drivers/other parties fault. Thus zero tolerance. And of course low pay per mile/hr. Low pay for detention. Breakdown , etc. Still much better then real roaches like England, Hunt, others. But the driver will never be #1 there. Those that like it there will always have work. One good point.
