Jesse Bounds Hay Company Junction City Oregon

Hauls Containers to Port of Tacoma Wa. on homemade chassis and 379 Peterbuilt s.
    Pros:
Pay is good 200.00 per round trip + 18.00 hr after 11 hours.
Receptionist is nice, but is tasked with dispatching and other jobs she shouldn't be doing

Cons of working for Jesse; Small fleet of band-aided together trucks.Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. The shop man will only do enough to get by the day as keeping the hay press used to bale your load to the port breaks frequently. There is down time that will keep you from leaving to Tacoma in a timely fashion (critical to getting back without dealing with heavy traffic)sometimes daily if not weekly, affecting your bottom line.
Jesse is a very young man whom can't seem to mature; as such his anger issues affect workers loading and you as driver. Unprofessional mannerisms and 4 letter words to include yelling demeaning comments to everyone, from drivers, loaders, mechanics and salespeople, carry the day, week and month.
The excuse for this behavior, is that the owner had his parents divorce and his father yelled all the time,so he cant control his behavior. This is a hostile work environment.

The harried Receptionist is the only go between you the driver and the owner. She does everything, as the young owner is so driven by the ability to control that he won't allow any one else to work in the office. He yells at her as well. Due to the sheer volume of dispatching six Port loads a day and numerous hay loads, plus juggling logs, loaders, load orders, freight brokers and babysitting the owner's teenaged helpers, there are sometimes mistakes made that cost the driver valuable time at the ports.

Shop man somehow is God to Jesse, so dont bother asking him to do his job or review repair writeups, as he'll get mad and smoke in your truck as retaliation and then he'll call Jesse behind your back to say you were coming in the yard with your helper axle down etc.

This company wants Farm helpers NOT professional drivers.

Professional drivers BEWARE. You will be a valued driver one day and a fired driver the next, depending on the mood of a 32 year old.

His age has nothing to do with his attitude. Don't worry though. He'll get his one day. They always do. He'll mouth off to the wrong hand sooner or later and end up in the hospital with a broken jaw.

If you feel like the equipment is unsafe, report them to DOT.

Hay transport has never seamed to pay real good so I a bit surprised at the wage this guy was offering. The rest of it seems par for the course in hay transport.

The hay in containers thing amuses me. For those that don't know; all our chinese stuff is transported across the ocean in containers. Since we now produce nothing in factories to send back, we pack the containers with hay, scrap paper, used cardboard, trash, recycled metal... just crap. Since moving that hay, trash, whatever is the biggest expense in the product, moving it pays a trucking company pratically nothing. Hard to imagine making a business out of it. The arabs and Indians pretty much got that business locked up in Washington. Amazed to see a young guy try to make a go of it in Oregon. Maybe that is why there is so much tension at that place.
