I worked for combine transport for over a year and they are the worst company I have worked for they lie and will steal money from you and cut your pay. Also, every time I was owed for layover, they would make an excuse because I will not be paid. I have spent countless hours at their customers. sitting waiting to get loaded or to be given a load of which would be up to two days sitting. in addition, every time you get loaded at their customers it would take at least 8 hours plus until you were able to get back on the road. which you are not just sitting the truck you are out there strapping and having to help with loading process and only getting paid $150 dollars and you have to use two tarps every time. Also, when you would unload, I had to unload the trailer myself and take the tarps off and fold them and spend another 6 hours on average to get unloaded. Of which I am not even paid for. Furthermore, a lot of their loads are. low mileage with some being close enough. I could get there in one day, but the customer was not going to be able to accept the load for two to three days. since that is when it was scheduled to be delivered so I would have to sit somewhere during that time and of course not getting paid for any of that time.
Also, they have decided to take out people net and required their company drivers to use their personal phone and download a bunch of software on to your phone. which includes using motive ELD with no reimbursement. Which I told them I'm not doing that you have to provide the device and all I have is a flip phone they told me I would have to buy a new phone which I of course said hell No.

Also don't believe any of their propaganda commercials. like one for example is when they are interviewing Jared, he claims he works as a truck driver and does not care about ever working in an office, but funny thing is he works in an office as a recruiter / orientation. instructor. and never been a truck driver.
this company will go out of their way to screw you over. I know too many people with similar stories as mine who worked for them that has said similar things has, I have. In Addition, I only made 40,000 dollars for a whole year of been employed by them this is the lowest I have ever made driving a truck all from unpaid hours of work I put in that they refused to pay, and all time sitting in the truck on the job not being allowed to go home. I would only get to go home once every couple of weeks. most of the time for only about a day. I should have made a hell a lot more money for the hours and time I put in. with this company only about 30 % of your time is paid and for the rest of the 70 % is unpaid free labor. can anybody say free legal slavery.
Anyways I can keep going but here is some of my experience I have had working for these low life's.
JUST DONT WASTE YOUR TIME YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED unless you like working for most of your time for free.

Sorry mate but you are on the wrong continent. Paid by the mile has been illegal for as long as I remember in UK (and I started in 1962), and pretty sure in the European Union. You must be paid a salary plus overtime or by the hours worked, which includes waiting. This was not won by drivers going on strike, but by the safety authorities wanting to stop drivers driving at breakneck speeds to get the miles in in the least possible time, in order to get more loads.
In the EU you put your tachograph disc into the machine (I think it is more pushing buttons now, I have been retired a long time;-)) and until it comes out at the end of the day, finished, you are paid for every hour.

It works both ways though. Here in France where I worked, every Saturday morning was a traditional get together for all the drivers who were back 'home'. We had wine, coffee, bread, sausages, cheese, had a grand old chat and catchup then washed the lorries down. All unpaid because it was our choice. Then the government brought in a 35 hour week and told the boss that we must be paid and put a tacho in to prove it. Not only that but the hours came off the number we were allowed to work a week. So we lost our together time. The one good thing was that a local unemployed bloke got a job, washing the wagons down every weekend. ;)

Going to work without pay is not civilised unless you are having fun. Doesn't sound like you are having fun, my best wishes for a better life which I hope you have now ;-)

So if they didn't provide an ELD in the truck and wanted you to download one on your phone, which you couldn't/wouldn't because you say you have a flip phone....how did you even drive without an ELD?

It's trucking. Nobody is throwing bags of money at drivers. Anyway it's not about the money, it's a lifestyle.
Trucking is the last bastion of chronic underachievers. Whenever I was disappointed in my situation I reminded myself I should have stayed in school.

Combine Transport out of Oregon? Seems like this was a great company at one time, (might still be). They even bought that little company Blackwell out of Central Pointe, Or. Then, the owner became the president of the ATA, and ever since his term was over, I hardly ever see their trucks anymore. What was that company, all O/O, similar to Mercer that had been in business for decades and the guy that bought them joined the ATA and immediately started trying to change the culture of the company to ATA's model. He required ELD's before they were law, and everybody quit.

Yea, who in world would want to be paid a salary + overtime, or by the hour including wait times. Next will be adequate parking and clean restrooms. Yes, brothers and sisters, that would be another step down that slippery slope towards chaos and anarchy.
