I lasted only one year as a team driver. That was the year I ate Thanksgiving dinner at my lead driver's home in Mercer, MO. Our home terminal was Seneca, IL near where I lived; but, you know, the load had to go.

On another job, one driver had a reputation for doing whatever dispatch asked him to do. Supposedly, one Thanksgiving dispatch called him to cover a hot load as he was having turkey with his family. He hit the road without finishing his dinner. The company made it up to him with well-paying loads later. In my experience, the company is usually wrong about how hot the load is.

My observation is that PJAX is not OTR and runs only weekdays. I was surprised, though, that their terminal was closed Monday already. Looks like the company gave their folks a four-day weekend. :yes2557:

The ones I loved NOT, were when the agent/broker would call and be all excited about his HOT TO TROT GOTTA GO GOTTA GO load. You roll into the shipper and as soon as you ID yourself they get you right into a dock, load you and send you on your way. You drive like hell for two days or only over night and pull into the receiver. And then you wait ALL day to unload, the entire time you are scratching your head as to was this load REALLY hot or not. Apparently not.
