The only thing our company won't pay for is hours of service violations I believe. Everything else is covered

In my company, unless the company tells you that you MUST Scale the load.. if you do not scale it and an overweight ticket is given, the driver is responsible. However, if you're randomly popped for an overweight at the scale - the company takes care of it and makes sure the customer/broker puts it on the confirmation sheet to reimburse.

We had a driver here that got hit with a $5,000 overweight ticket at the Boilingbrook i55 scale in Illinois, he was approximately 98,000 pounds gross weight. Although, the driver went and scaled it.. it was overweight and he corresponded with the company who then corresponded with the broker - the broker told our company "let him run it, if he gets caught - we will pay for it".

Long story short, he was caught at the scale and the broker started coming up with excuses..well... the driver took the container back to the yard and the company instructed him not to return the container back to the ramp(railyard) until the broker wired over $5,000.

Here, the driver is responsible if leaving a terminal with an operable scale, or for running down a restricted road.

Overweight ticket is the only thing on my csa, so yes, they can show up there. It is only 2 points in my case, but it's there.

I'll take your word for that.

Admittedly, I haven't gotten one in a long time, since well before the CVSA stuff went into effect.

Thankfully, those points do drop off after about 3 years if I'm not mistaken.
