Never put a dry air filter back in after removing.
And make sure to clean the air box out.
    Flame suit on.

As a test, run it with no filter, but don;t tell anybody and then put a new/rebuilt filter in.

Never blow a dry filter out with compressed air either. just replace it.

A wet/oiled filter can be reused but only after proper cleaning and oiling,
Just incase; on a car too much oil on the air filter can coat some sensors and cause a fault code.
Just facts as I see them, you can agree or not as you see fit.

To check your gauge disconnect the tube at the intake tube then use a mighty vac or similar tool to pull vacuum. Gauge should move. But your way over due a change

I change mine once a year. my gauge has never moved since the truck was brand new 23 years ago lol I've checked it with a mityvac and it works then. Just not from vacuum in the air filter housing the way it's supposed to.

I put a new gauge in my truck. It goes to 10 on day one and stays there.

Past fleet service we stayed with
    60-80 single underhood.
    80-100 on small external
    100-140 on large external.

Oil samples, and don't blow them out with air for heavens sake. Don't even touch them till your going to replace them. You knock to much dirt loose.

Mine, in later years is low miles. But heavy dust. Small externals. Change once a year.

I do know newer systems and filters have evolved, and I'm not familiar with a 579. You just have to experiment and find your interval for your operation. No one answer.

Pull them out and look, note that they probably filter from the inside out so outside will look clean.

The way to check them is with a flash light on the inside. Compare to a new one. Chances are it’s dirty, even it it looks good. Flashlight trick works best. Only real way to tell.
