Yeah, I figured they probably won't tow. I just know that the T/A in Nashville is really anal about who parks where and will have no problem telling you to move. They usually turn a blind eye to the LTL guys who are there for meet/turns, but woe to anyone who parks in the entrance/fuel island. They'll have the security on them in a hot minute.
Do pranksters/jerks actually pull the pin when the trucker isn't looking?

soooooo.....lesson learned, don't go to the TA in Nashville.....simple as that. Next question.....
bigtssa Thanks this. -
I worked for a construction company for 10 years....prankster maybe, JERK, job site ENEMY, some one just MAD at the company , I'd shocked if it didn't happen.
For a while I helped with the safety training, we started pointing out such behavior as a better reason for pre work checks , than safety. The company incident and accident rate went down a lot after we added that into the training mix. -
Just another one of the many reasons to do a proper pretrip/walk around.
Even if it is rainy and cold... -
I check every single time that I move the truck.I've seen guys hook up, jump the pin, and pull out not being any wiser about their mistake.Do a proper pretrip.
-
Pretrip???????????????????What's that?I bet over half the drivers don't do pretrips.I lways do and checking the fifth wheel is part of it.I physically get under the trailer and make sure the jaws r locked and pin is in.I've never had anybody mess with my trl or trk but there's always a first.

You would be surprised at the drivers I see every morning. Get out of their truck go to bathroom, come back to truck. Get in start it and drive off. My month of December 2013 . 242 drivers who didn't pre-trip.
Being an O/O. I like to know who I pay special attention to, while passing. -
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!That's a lot of drivers now. How'd you come up with that number?

This fuel island thing seems to be a real problem. If I had to wait an hour for some idiot, I could see myself making a big deal of it, when he came out laughing with wet hair and a towel.
I'd be tempted to call in multiple complaints to his company and try and get him in trouble. Reckless driving, trailer abandonment, bringing alcohol into his truck etc.
