Do pranksters/jerks actually pull the pin when the trucker isn't looking?

At kb there are drivers that don't have a clue what a pretrip is.I refused to take any of their trks like when they were off for the day because I knew id have to add gallons of oil and antifreeze.Companies know certain drivers don't do pretrips, how can they get away with it.

  3. If your company has a safety department. Report the truck take pictures. You never know it may help isolate the lazy drivers in a company.

Great advice.Safety, dispatch knows all about it.I turned those drivers in many times and so has my boyfriend and his friend, they work for kb.Safety doesn't care. But if something happens while driving which should have been detected during pretrip, then those drivers get charged for brkdown.

  5. To protect you and your boyfriend. Document with pictures. If you can print out pics. Keep them with a journal of the truck # it occurred in. So if someone says you two did it. You have a documented record of the vehicle in question.

On a side note, if a company is not taking your safety concerns serious. Either report the truck company to DOT. Or seek another company you would feel better working for. Remember your an Indian not a chief. That's why I don't work for big box. Smaller outfits can and will treat you better.

  6. For the majority who are reading this topic. Pulling a fithwheel pin is no prank. It is vandalism, and extremely dangerous.

It can be a disgruntled cdl driver, a mad 4 wheeler or even faulty fifth wheel jaws.

Doing a simple walk around before you move your rig. Will be the most important thing you can do besides a good night sleep.
Remember we ARE Professionals, that is not a prize from a cracker jack box in your wallet.
We as CMV drivers out number police , and that black highway is your office.
So keeping your ride safe is your main job. As well as your fellow drivers. Don't let one bad apple ruin the industry. Be safe and pay it forward.

Im no longer there.Going to start Hill Brothers next week. But Ray is there. He never drives certain trks because hes tired of it.But he has taken pictures off his phone and showed safety.A waste of time they never do anything.I have reported them to safety while driving either because of a missing mud flap burned out lights low tires ect and nothing ever happens.KB just calls that driver and tells them. They know exactly who these drivers are.But because they need the drivers they don't say anything.

JB is not highly regarded as a company. And there are LOT of disgruntled ex JB drivers out there. As a matter of fact, if my memory serves, Wiseone started this forum as a response to JB's BS. Of course it has evolved from that to what it is today. (Wiseone was the user name of the original owner of Truckers Report.)

So you see someone else is a jerk, and then you should lower yourself to their level? Nah, bad advice.:biggrin_25512:

    Another story..
I was told in my first orientation about a former driver.
He was a nice guy/driver,but one day in a hurry, didnt do a tug test, after hooking up.
He made it to the interstate, and trailer came loose.
It went across the median, and struck a families car, killing everyone in car.
Theres a lot of dumbasz to be pulling pins, considering what could potentially happen.
I flashlight mine, and pre trip.Take the time, and at least do that part right..

At Tyson a local driver hooked up and in such a hurry.Hes leaving his trl goes one way and trk the other way.Thank god it happened in their lot and he noticed it before it came loose.Would have costed him for the wrecker. Then at another trans cont a reefer driver left and got as far as the rr tracks stuck on the tracks because his trl come loose.Everytime I hook up no matter how cold it is,im going to physically check to make sure it is lock.
