Thanks for the suggestion, Chinatown, but unfortunately, I didn't see any driver positions listed in their Atlanta / Lithonia location. It looks like they just have dockworker positions right now, but I may call them, though, just to make sure. I've never heard of that company, though, so it's at least good to know that option may be there in the future.

Well, I'm not opposed to working in a warehouse, as I've done plenty of that type of work before, but my main concern with being a dockworker is just missing out on getting actual driving experience during this critical window right after getting my CDL. I don't want my driving skills to degrade or give employers the impression that they have. Thanks for the suggestion, anyway, though.

It's good to know that this is the slow time of the year for LTL. I hadn't thought of that. When do things pick up? Do you know?

Usually mid March. But start calling today.
Ask them about the schooling and find out the details.

FedEx Freight and Old Dominion have yards in Cumberland, RI (on the same street), Saia has a terminal in Wrentham by the outlets. South shore drivah, here.

FXF in Abington has an apprentice position currently posted, that’s your in as a new driver.
