was it a third-party testing meaning that your CDL instructors were certified by state and all you had to do was go to the DMV and show them that you passed everything?

edit: when I first got my CDL I had to learn how to parallel park, doing an offset, 90° back a.k.a. alley dock. but first you had to pass your straight line back. If my memory serves me correct, the Florida one back at the end of 09, allowed to pull ups for the straight line back. Point is, there are standards in place.

When I went in for my refresher in 2023, I saw the instructors at Sage fail many people because they could not back who were in your situation for the DMV exam. i'm not too sure how it is in Texas, but the schools get audited down here by officials from the state in Florida to see if the standards are being held up to what Florida determines those standards are meaning no special treatment is allowed.

I wish you the best of luck, and please let us know how you did. It's about 105am here in the morning here in FL and this thread did not require me to have my daily cup of coffee to wake me up.

According to Google, there are 3.55 million truck drivers in the US. I figure that means there are at least 3 million of us who back trailers into tight places every day. And if you spend any time around truck drivers, you’ll realize that most of us aren’t exactly rocket surgeons. Backing a truck just isn’t that hard. A little practice goes a long way, it’s an easy skill to master, and in the very near future you’ll be laughing and shaking your head remembering how you used to dread doing it.
