I can't comment on having to reimburse USX for bus fare, etc., but I do know that if a driver quits before staying with the company for 90 days he will have a pay for the physical given during orientation. The charge is $100 and is taken out of the final paycheck.

    No Co,

I was wrong, I misread the section about using your own vehicle and getting reimbused. They do provide a bus ticket there........but you are on your own if you get cut. Thank you for correcting me, as not confuse these students. Very Sorry

    Johnny,

They do provide transportation home if you get cut. They just do not advertise it. I got cut in Feb of 2010 as mentioned in a earlier post. I was told by several drivers to call my recruiter and ask for a ticket home. I then called their travel department and they gave me a confirmation number for the bus ticket to Orlando FL from Chattanooga TN.

No problem at all, I also know that as of two weeks ago, if you get cut (not quit) they will give you a bus ticket home if you ask. The web site has said this for a long time but the actual policy is different. Had two people sent home from our class of 19 and USX paid to get them home.

    Jonny1 Thanks this.

So are you enjoying USX so far? I see them up on the hill on my way around Chattanooga, it seems like they always have so much equipment sitting.

My son lives on Missionary Ridge on the South side of Chattanooga. You are probably looking at the old stuff. They are replacing a few thousand trucks (I heard 2500 2011's on order). You can get a GREAT deal on a 2007 Volvo right now :biggrin_25519: I would love to have that table in the sleeper.

We are really liking the company. So far all I have seen is an honest attempt to help us make money. I am sure I will run across crappy people since they are a big company but very pleased so far.

Sorry for of the questions.......... but what kind of equipment do they issue teams?

I do like the Volvo 780's interiors and how they ride when they are new, but man in no time at all they turn into this huge shaking rattle trap.

OK, I am not the expert here, I am still with my trainer so what I am saying is based on observation and what other drivers I have met face to face have told me.

I have been told teams generally get newer equipment (makes sense with the miles you will be pounding) My trainer has a 2010 FL Cascadia with 80,000 miles that is freaking sweet. Drives like a dream and very nicely appointed. What I saw in the Irving Terminal were Cascadia's and Century's. Anything older than 2008 was retired. I did not see one on the line there but they have International ProStars also (I have seen them on the road). They had newer Pete's but I was told they are for Lease Operators. All kinds of rumors on what is being purchased but if what I am hearing (the consensus anyway) by the end of the year, the average fleet age will be about 18 to 20 months old. There are ton's of rumors about the company direction on automatics also. They have bought a bunch of new 10 speeds but they have purchased a bunch of new automatics also. I suspect it was a killer deal on the 10 speeds.
